Lapping is primarily a metal working service that removes material slowly in order to achieve flatness (down to a couple helium light bands) and also achieve fine surface finishes. With two larger laps and two smaller laps on our floor, we can handle a wide range of parts for lapping, as big as 36″ diameter. Lapping machines work with a lapping/grit compound that rides in between the hardened table and the work piece, removing the material from the work piece. It generates very flat parts with a very fine, but matte surface finish. (If shiny is what you are looking for, there are secondary operations we can perform to achieve that near-mirror look.) Lapping can be performed on a wide range of materials, not just metals. We have decades of experience in this field and a workforce that is up to any challenge.
Like many of our other services, we can offer quick turn around on many lapping jobs. With 24-5 service, and 43,000 sq. feet, let us be your Lapping Department.
